Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 August 2026. This policy explains what snapntapp collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

01

Who we are

snapntapp is a personal expense tracker that turns bank notification emails into categorized spending records. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the snapntapp team, and "you" means the person who holds a snapntapp account. For any privacy question, write to privacy@snapntapp.com.

02

What we collect

We collect three kinds of information:

  • Account data. Your email address, a hashed password, and your display name.
  • Forwarded email content. The bank notification emails you forward to your snapntapp address. From each one we extract the merchant, amount, date, payment method and sending institution. The original message is deleted after parsing.
  • Usage data. Basic technical logs: device type, app version, timestamps, and errors. We use these to keep the service working.
03

What we never collect

We do not ask for, receive or store your online banking username, password, PIN, OTP, or full card number. We have no connection to your bank and cannot move money. We do not read your mailbox: we only receive the messages your own Gmail filter forwards to us, and we cannot request anything else from your inbox.

04

How we use it

Your data is used to parse transactions, suggest categories, calculate spending against your limits, send the alerts you have turned on, and support you when you contact us. We do not use your transaction data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

05

Automated category suggestions

Suggested categories are produced automatically from merchant names and your past choices. A suggestion is never applied without your confirmation unless you enable automatic filing in Settings, and you can re-categorize any transaction at any time.

06

Sharing

We share data only with service providers who run the product on our behalf — hosting, email delivery, error monitoring and analytics — and only to the extent they need it. They are bound by contract to protect it and may not use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users. If snapntapp is ever acquired, your data may transfer with the service, and we will tell you before that happens.

07

Retention

Parsed transactions are kept while your account is open, so your history stays intact. Raw forwarded emails are deleted within 30 days of parsing. Technical logs are kept for 90 days. When you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days except where we must retain records to meet a legal obligation.

08

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are hashed, and access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authority without undue delay.

09

Your choices

You can export your transactions, correct any record, stop forwarding at any time by removing the Gmail filter, and delete your account from Settings. You may also ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you, or ask us to erase it, by writing to privacy@snapntapp.com. We answer within 30 days.

10

Children

snapntapp is not intended for anyone under 17. If we learn we hold data from a child, we delete it.

11

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
